Consultancy
With a combined 20+ years of experience in community arts and playwork Clare offers support and guidance to organisations including schools, community centres, arts organisations, government and council run organisations to design and develop co-collaborative projects that place children and young peoples voices at the centre. Clare works as a community artist producing child centred and child led art programs using measured risky play as the key art tool. Incorporating her years of experience as a play worker with her training in public art Clare collaborates with children and young people to produce works that share the vision and voice of her collaborators using the language, rituals and practices that are their natural world.

Clare will work closely with your organisation to support your staff in engaging children and young people in child-led and focused programs and share with them the knowledge and skills she has developed as an artist and playworker. Since completing her Masters in Public Art where she examined how the original concept of the adventure playground can support children and young people to activate public space she has created programs that incorporate measured risky play to reactivate public spaces, re-engage at risk children with their community. In 2023 Clare competed her PhD (by practice) at the University of Melbourne, where she examined how Measured Risky Play can be used as the key art tool to re-engage students with their education and community.

Clare’s key ability is in helping children and young people find their voice, share their visions and develop their skills to become active citizens in their community. Clare argues that if children and young people are to be engaged as active citizens it needs to go beyond a performative and tokenistic process, and support them in using their languages and rituals to create ongoing projects that have an impact on all participants and the wider community.

Work with Clare to learn the skills to help you and your staff/teachers to develop programs that change the way you work with your youngest members and in turn have a significant impact on your organisation/school and the wider community.
